Subject: Obligations Facebook groups

In the certain knowledge that ODG members have all been slaving away on important new articles etc etc, it has occurred to me that not all may be fully aware of the wealth of theoretical insights to be gained through modern social networking technologies. Accordingly, I have compiled a list of obligations-related Facebook groups, which I believe is comprehensive - though I would be delighted to be proved wrong. (Those who feel that their own point of view is insufficiently represented in the following are of course free to set up their own Facebook groups, which only involves only a few mouse-clicks. With what consequences, I cannot guess, and will not speculate (or not publicly, at least!).)

For those of a sensitive disposition (none of whom are advised to read beyond the end of this paragraph), it seems that Lord Denning's contributions to the common law still seem to excite strong passions, these passions being of various sizes and shapes. (On Facebook, no love is afraid to speak its name - strangely, not even love of a law lord born on the century before last.) You have been warned. What you do in respect of this warning is up to you. (fn: Standard works on Exemption Clauses.)

I should also perhaps add that I am not a member of all of these groups - indeed, not all would have me.

Enjoy,
S

A familiar reference point in several of these groups is a popular commentary on Donoghue v Stevenson, available on YouTube as a pop video entitled "Snail In A Bottle" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWia3GCzyLQ). Fortunately for those appearing in the video, the artist known as "Sting" has a very poor track record when it comes to protecting his intellectual property rights (e.g. http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/search/case.jsp?case=D2000-0596), and so the performers may yet have brilliant careers before them. Or not. Let's see what happens, shall we?

Finally, there are also various groups discussing judges who have contributed significantly to the law of obligations - though the content of these discussions is not always strictly relevant to obligations.  Or even loosely relevant, come to that.  But it's all good stuff. I think. Though I've not read all of them. For obvious reasons.
