Subject: Society of Legal Scholars (UK & Ire) - Call for TORT Papers

Last year the Society of Legal Scholars (UK & Ireland) Torts Section was fortunate enough to hear excellent papers at its annual conference meeting from Professors based in Australia, Canada and Singapore - so I am circulating this call in the hope of attracting equal riches to Sheffield (UK) in September 2004. (for more information on the Society generally, please see www.legalscholars.org.uk)

SLS Tort Subject Section - Sheffield Conference
September 13 - 16, 2004
Call for Papers

If you would like to give a paper on Tort Law to the Tort Subject Section at the SLS Annual Conference 2004 please contact roderick.bagshaw@law.ox.ac.uk.

The probable format for the Tort Subject Section will involve EIGHT papers being discussed in FOUR slots of 90 minutes each from 11.15 a.m. on Wednesday 15 September until 12.45 p.m. on Thursday 16 September.

In choosing between papers offered preference will be given to offerors who are willing to undertake to provide a FULL PAPER by mid-August 2004. (This will make it possible for a paper to be circulated in advance, for author to introduce his or her paper briefly at the conference, and for a substantial proportion of the 45 minute sub-slot to be devoted to discussion of the paper).

It is likely that one or two of the slots will be dedicated to discussion of papers concerning "Rethinking Breach of Duty". Papers are invited on this topic OR on any other topic within the ambit of Tort Law.

Those offering papers should please note that those attending the SLS Conference to give a paper must still register for the conference and pay the CONFERENCE FEE. Further, unfortunately those attending must make their own arrangements with respect to the costs of travel and accommodation.

I hope to hear from many of you soon. I will wait until 1 March before assuming that I have received all offers, and seeking to formulate a provisional programme.
