Dear Colleagues:

Some of you might find the attached interesting. As an aside does anyone know what promissory fraud is (from Panel 2)?

On March 3-4, 2006, the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law will host the Dan B. Dobbs conference on Economic Torts. The conference, which is named in honor of my distinguished colleague and coauthor, is sponsored by the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, and the American Law Institute. The goal of the conference is to promote research and discussion about economic torts, which will be the next subject addressed by the Restatement Third of Torts.

The conference program will include five panels: the economic loss rule and its limits, principles of recovery in economic torts, business experience with economic tort litigation, allocating responsibility between multiple actors, and completing the Torts restatement project. In addition to these panels, Helmut Koziol, Chair of the European Group on Tort Law -- a group which has been harmonizing the tort law of countries in the European Union -- will discuss recovery for economic loss in the countries in the European Union. Participation within the panels will include commentary by many, many outstanding legal scholars, judges and practitioners.

A conference brochure is attached. If you have any questions about the conference, please feel free to contact me at the email below or Donna Ream at ream@law.arizona.edu.

Best regards,

Ellie Bublick
