Asbestos compensation
Will
Barker be over-turned? Blair's words are a bit more cautious,
conditional, iffy, than over-turn. How would you draft legislation
on causation without upsetting the whole tort applecart? Isn't it
more likely to be some special compensation deal for mesothelioma
victims?
And
might not the insurers have something to say about it?

Dear all,
Asbestos compensation update
On returning to the UK from the conference I discover that Tony
Blair is to overturn the effect of the Lords decision in Barker.

I have heard independently that the Association of Personal Injury
Lawyers is hopeful of securing this legislation. Will it happen??
So much for the politics of tort ??
