Dear Friends,
While not strictly an obligations case (but we can talk more in Singapore about that!), ODG readers may be interested in today's opinion from the US Supreme Court, Sprint v. APCC Services. The case is about whether an assignee of a claim to money who has contractually promised to remit any proceeds of the litigation back to the assignor, has standing to sue in the federal courts.
Both majority and dissent contain extensive discussions of the history of assignment and assignability of choses in action at common law, which may be of interest.
