What is
Restitution?

Another tree!

A Restitution Discussion Group (called "Enrichment") runs from a machine in McGill and is administered by Lionel Smith. The group is in practice used to publicise new developments and for occasional discussion. It is not a high volume group most of the time - on average 4 or 5 messages a week. (However, it is highly irregular. Perhaps a better picture is given if we say that you can expect 4 or 5 messages a month, but a positive blizzard when somebody says something interesting or controversial.)

To subscribe, send e-mail to listserv@lists.mcgill.ca with no subject line and saying "subscribe enrichment" in the body of the message.

Once subscribed, you can contribute to the discussion by sending your message to enrichment@lists.mcgill.ca.

If replying to a message from another contributor, don't just blindly press "reply" - your reply will not go to the group unless enrichment@lists.mcgill.ca is one of the addressees.

To view past discussions in the group, go here.

The list administration software will also obey a limited set of instructions from users. In particular, you can modify some aspects of the way messages are sent to you (eg whether messages are forwarded to you immediately on receipt or rather as a daily digest). You can communicate with the server by e-mail. But NB:
1/ There is also a web interface which will often be more convenient; and
2/ Distinguish carefully between instructions to the server (which should go to listserv@lists.mcgill.ca) and contributions to the discussions (which should go to enrichment@lists.mcgill.ca).

Here are some of the more useful commands:

Sending this message to
listserv@lists.mcgill.ca
...
... achieves this result
subscribe enrichment Your name is added to the list
signoff enrichment Your name is removed from the list
review enrichment You are sent a copy of current list membership
index enrichment You are sent a list of the group's archive files
get enrichment <filename> You are sent <filename> from the group's archives
